About Marilyn

Marilyn Stollon

In 1980 after undergoing Reiki treatments for several months for a pre-cancerous condition, I decided to become a practitioner. I trained with Reiki Masters John and Beth Gray in 1980. They were part of the original group of Reiki Masters who were trained by Mrs. Takata in Usui methods. I completed Level I in 1980 and Level II in 1981 with John Gray. I became a Reiki Master in 2002 and trained with Jean Cantrell in Usui, Furomoto and Rand techniques.

I have given Reiki treatments since 1980 for a broad range of medical problems including: broken bones, breast cancer, arthritis, migraines, stress, influenza, prostate cancer, post surgery swelling/infection, carpal tunnel, tendonitis, and hepatitis. In 2002, I became a Master so that I could expand my Reiki services and train others which I have done.

Since 1990, I have been self employed full time as an Employment Counselor, and have a private office in downtown Oakland where I provide resume and job seeking skills training to various individuals. Learn more at FindWorkNOW.org.

About Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) originated in Japan where it was discovered in the early 1900's by Dr. Usui, a Japanese Buddhist and is still practiced today. Dr. Usui opened a clinic and treated and trained others including Dr. Hayashi who later trained Mrs. Takata in the 1930's. She was a Japanese American from Hawaii who was initially seeking treatment, but later stayed and trained to become a Master..

Mrs. Takata is credited with bringing Reiki to the U.S. She established a clinic in the 1930's in Hawaii and trained others in Reiki. In the 1970's, in her old age, she trained a small number of Reiki Masters in Hawaii and the mainland, including John Gray, Beth Gray and William Rand.
